Türkiye’s Centrifugal Pump Foreign Trade Volume Reaches Nearly $400 Million in the First Seven Months of 2026

According to data released by the Turkish Pump and Valve Manufacturers' Association (POMSAD), Türkiye’s pump industry continued to expand its exports during the first seven months of 2026. Between January and July, centrifugal pump exports increased by 12.1% to $121.1 million, while imports rose by 14.3% to $274.3 million. As a result, the total foreign trade volume grew by 13.6% to $395.4 million. Masdaf CEO Erhan Özdemir emphasized the importance of strengthening high-value-added domestic production as imports continued to grow faster than exports.

According to POMSAD data, Türkiye’s foreign trade in centrifugal pumps recorded double-digit growth in the first seven months of 2026. Centrifugal pump exports, which stood at $108 million between January and July 2025, increased by 12.1% to $121.1 million during the same period of 2026. Imports rose by 14.3%, from $239.9 million to $274.3 million.

Driven by increases in both exports and imports, the total foreign trade volume expanded by 13.6%, rising from $347.9 million to $395.4 million.

As imports grew faster than exports, the foreign trade deficit increased from $131.9 million to $153.3 million. Meanwhile, the export-to-import coverage ratio declined from 45% to 44.1%.

Central Asian Countries Stand Out in Türkiye’s Centrifugal Pump Exports

Country-level data show that Türkiye’s centrifugal pump exports reach a broad geographical range of markets.

Kazakhstan ranked first among Türkiye’s export destinations in the January–July 2026 period, with exports worth $12.1 million. It was followed by Egypt with $8.9 million, Turkmenistan with $7.3 million and Uzbekistan with exports approaching $7.3 million. Germany was also among the top five export markets, with $5.2 million.

The strong positions of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan highlight the growing importance of Central Asian markets for Türkiye’s centrifugal pump exports. Iraq, Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran and Libya were also among the notable export destinations.

More Than Half of Imports Came from China, Germany and Italy

Türkiye’s centrifugal pump imports showed a more concentrated geographical distribution.

Between January and July 2026, Türkiye imported $77.4 million worth of centrifugal pumps from China, which alone accounted for approximately 28% of total imports.

China was followed by Germany with $34 million, Italy with $30.6 million, France with $20.7 million and Hungary with $16.7 million.
Combined imports from China, Germany and Italy reached approximately $142 million, representing more than half of Türkiye’s total centrifugal pump imports during the period.

“We Must Support Export Growth with Higher Domestic Added Value”

Commenting on the centrifugal pump foreign trade figures released by POMSAD, Masdaf CEO Erhan Özdemir said the double-digit increase in exports was an important indicator of the sector’s manufacturing capabilities and its ability to reach international markets.

“We consider the growth of more than 12% in our centrifugal pump exports during the first seven months of the year to be significant for our industry. When we look at our export destinations, we see that the Turkish pump industry is gaining traction not only in neighboring regions but also across a diverse range of international markets. However, the fact that imports increased faster than exports during the same period clearly shows where we need to focus in the coming years. While maintaining export growth, we must also increase the technological level and domestic added value of products manufactured in Türkiye,” Özdemir said.

Highlighting Türkiye’s strong manufacturing and engineering infrastructure, Özdemir continued:

“Today, the issue is not simply about producing more pumps or exporting to more countries. We need to strengthen our competitiveness in products that require high efficiency, advanced engineering, safety, digitalization and compliance with international standards. By accurately identifying the technologies and application areas in which imported products are concentrated, and by meeting more of these needs through domestic production, we can significantly improve the foreign trade performance of Türkiye’s pump industry.”

Özdemir noted that Masdaf continues to invest in manufacturing, R&D and product development in line with this approach.

“We are bringing the engineering expertise we have developed in Türkiye to international markets. In the coming period, supporting the growth of Türkiye’s pump industry with higher technology and greater added value will be critical to improving the country’s foreign trade balance,” Özdemir said.
