The Turkish HVAC&R sector achieved significant export data in the first half of 2024.
The air conditioning industry has announced plans to expand its global reach by entering new markets in the first half of 2024. During the first six months of the year, the sector saw a 0.8 percent increase in export volume, totaling $3.4 billion. The top three regions for Turkish HVAC&R sector exports are the European Union countries at 46 percent, the Commonwealth of Independent States at 17 percent, and other European countries at 10 percent.
Mehmet Şanal, Chairman of the Turkish HVAC&R Exporters' Association (İSİB), emphasized Turkey's progress towards becoming a key player in the global HVAC&R sector. He mentioned that the sector will maintain its continuous efforts in the latter part of the year to sustain the growth momentum.
Most exports were made to EU countries in the first half of the year
In the evaluation of the data for the first six months of 2024, Mehmet Şanal stated that the sector experienced a 0.8 percent increase in January and June compared to the same period last year. The total sector balance for the six months amounted to 3.4 billion dollars. During this period, exports to European Union countries constituted 46 percent of the total, making it the largest market share once again, with exports totaling 1.6 billion dollars. Following closely were the Commonwealth of Independent States with 17 percent and other European countries with 10 percent, receiving exports worth 604 million dollars and 360 million dollars, respectively. The unit prices for air conditioning products in the main export markets remained stable, with notable examples such as an increase in the unit price of exports to Italy from 10.6 USD per kilogram in 2023 to 11.0 USD in 2024. Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, and France were highlighted as the top export destinations for Turkey's air conditioning products in the first half of the year, collectively representing a significant portion of Turkey's total exports.
Most exports, totaling $1.31 billion, were in installation systems and components.
Şanal evaluated the sub-product groups within the sector, highlighting that the growth in these areas indicates a strengthening export capacity. He mentioned significant export growth in various products such as installation systems, ventilation systems, insulation materials, cooling systems, and heating systems. Specifically, there was a notable export power of $1.31 billion in installation systems, $453 million in ventilation systems, a 4.8% increase, $542 million in cooling systems, which rose to $643 million in heating systems. Furthermore, $75 million in exports were achieved in the insulation materials category.
