SOSIAD brought the sector together under the theme of “Cool Skills” on World Refrigeration Day

The Refrigeration Industry Business People Association (SOSİAD) brought together key stakeholders in the sector this year, as it does every year on World Refrigeration Day, celebrated worldwide on June 26. The event, themed “Cool Skills – The Coolest Talents,” took place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the CVK Park Bosphorus Hotel, drawing significant interest from industry representatives, experts, and academics.

The event, which began with an opening speech by SOSİAD Board Chairman Türkay Yıldırım, addressed topics of close interest to the sector, such as sustainability, climate change, alternative refrigerants, and international certification systems.

Highlights of the Event

The event continued with a section where SOSİAD's work and publications were presented. Hayati Can, Vice President of the Board of Directors, shared SOSİAD's work with the participants through his presentation, and then Kadir İsa, Honorary Member of SOSİAD, took on the role of moderator for the session that followed.

• Ufuk Doğukan Aksoy (Legal Advisor to the Climate Change Presidency): In his presentation on the “Climate Law,” he shared the latest           developments in Turkey's climate policies.
• Arif Ergin (GEFF Turkey) discussed opportunities for financing green projects.
• Kadir İsa evaluated the European Union's F-Gas Quota System.
• Kıvanç Aslantaş provided information on certification training programs valid in EU countries.
• Gökçen Aşan (UNDP) shared insights on the impact of modeling studies in the cooling sector on emissions.
• Çağlar Öcal (HMSF) presented projections on the future of air conditioning within the scope of ISK-SODEX 2025. • Thanos Biris (HUFGAS – Greece) presented an international perspective on training and production-design collaborations related to alternative refrigerants.

Message of Unity and Cooperation from the Sector

At the end of the day, key representatives from the sector emphasized solidarity in their messages and reiterated the importance of skilled labor, innovative technologies, and environmentally friendly solutions.

Sarven Çilingiroğlu, Chairman of the Board of ISKAV, Turgay Yay, Vice Chairman of the Board of ISKID, TTMD Board Chairman Seçil İskender, MTMD Association Director Nilgün İlik Eren, TÜYAK Director Şengül Çiftçi, UNDP Portfolio Manager Meral Mungan Arda, and HUFGAS President Thanos Biris also conveyed their support and congratulations for the event, emphasizing the sector's power to act together.

A Day Completed with Networking

The event concluded with a pleasant cocktail reception where participants had the opportunity to gather and exchange views. During the cocktail reception, Hayati Can, Vice President of the SOSIAD Board of Directors, played the saz and sang folk songs, providing guests with enjoyable moments. This segment, held after the official program, laid the groundwork for industry-wide interaction among participants.
