Siemens Türkiye Offers Young People the Opportunity to Showcase Climate Solutions at COP31
Through the Climathon program, launched in collaboration with Young Guru Academy and UP School, Siemens Türkiye is inviting young people to develop technology-driven solutions to combat the climate crisis. Applications for the program, which is open to third- and fourth-year university students studying engineering, will remain open until September 23. Selected projects developed as part of the program will be showcased at COP31 in the Green Zone, where Siemens will participate as a Climate Supporter.
Siemens Türkiye is launching a new social impact program that places young people at the heart of climate transformation as part of the company’s 170th anniversary and COP31. Organized in collaboration with Young Guru Academy and its venture UP School, the Climathon program aims to enable young people to combine their awareness of the climate crisis with artificial intelligence skills and turn their ideas into tangible solutions.
As part of the program, third- and fourth-year university students studying engineering will receive technical mentoring support, as well as training sessions and webinars delivered with contributions from experts in climate change, sustainability and artificial intelligence. Participants will develop AI-powered solutions to climate-related challenges based on a defined project brief and take part in an intensive four-week Climathon process.
From Awareness to Action
Designed around a “from awareness to action” approach, the program aims not only to help young people gain knowledge about the climate crisis, but also to enable them to combine this knowledge with technology to develop solutions to real-world problems. Throughout the program, participants will be supported through expert-led webinars on climate change and sustainability, artificial intelligence and no-code development training, project development activities and technical mentoring.
At the end of the program, projects will be evaluated by subject-matter experts according to transparent, predefined criteria shared with participants from the outset. Selected projects will be showcased in Siemens’ Green Zone area at COP31, which will be held in Türkiye in November. Young participants will have the opportunity to present their projects to an audience comprising policymakers, industry leaders and various stakeholders.
Technology and Innovation Experience for Young People
The first 20 participants selected as part of Climathon will be invited to the two-day Tech Career Days event, which will be held at the Siemens Türkiye Istanbul Campus in December. Participants will visit the Siemens Campus, gain experience in technology and innovation, and present the projects they have developed to Siemens employees.
Through this program, Siemens Türkiye supports young people in transforming their artificial intelligence skills into climate solutions. The initiative aims to strengthen young people’s technological capabilities while contributing to the development of innovative solutions to address the climate crisis.
