Gerhman Provided Air Distribution and Airflow Control Solutions for the Qatar Embassy Project in Vienna

Gerhman participated in the project to convert the historic Palais Clam-Gallas in Vienna, Austria, for use as the Embassy of the State of Qatar and Qatar’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna, providing solutions for air distribution and airflow control.

Adapting the historic building to its new purpose required modern ventilation needs to be evaluated alongside the existing architectural conditions. Accordingly, Gerhman focused on determining appropriate air distribution methods for spaces with different functions and regulating airflow within the building. Supply air grilles, swirl diffusers, displacement air distribution elements, and airflow control dampers formed the main components of the solutions implemented in the project.

Among the products used in the project were the RHO-CS circular duct supply air grille, NEO adjustable swirl diffuser, RHO-S supply air grille, BLUE-S airflow control damper, and DD01 displacement diffuser. Each of these products, serving different technical functions, played a role in meeting air distribution and airflow control requirements.

Designed for circular ducts, the RHO-CS allows the direction of airflow to be adjusted through its adjustable blades. The RHO-S was used as a supply air grille with horizontally and vertically adjustable blades, while the NEO supports the mixing of supply air with room air through its swirling airflow pattern and adjustable blades.

The BLUE-S damper range, used for airflow and pressure control in duct systems, provides a solution for regulating airflow. The DD01 displacement diffuser features independently adjustable nozzles located behind its perforated front panel, allowing air distribution in the nearby area to be regulated. Thus, the products selected for the project address various technical requirements, including air direction, air mixing, and airflow control.

The Palais Clam-Gallas project represents one of Gerhman’s references demonstrating its ventilation solutions for the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. The project also highlights the importance of selecting products suited to existing architectural conditions and adopting different air distribution approaches according to the functional characteristics of individual spaces.
