COPA Builds Heat Pump Plant with Annual Production Capacity of 100 Thousand Units

COPA Heating Systems, a major manufacturer of steel panel radiators in Turkey, is expanding its 100% Turkish-owned business. Known for its strong export performance over two decades, COPA is setting up a new heat pump facility with a 3.5 million euro investment. The plant, located in Bursa, will have the capacity to produce around 100,000 heat pumps each year.

COPA, a member of the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) and the first company to produce heat pumps in Turkey, will establish one of the nearest heat pump production facilities to Europe through this new investment.

Heat pumps stand out as eco-friendly air conditioning systems powered by renewable energy, harnessing heat energy from the environment. According to "The Future of Heat Pumps" Report by the International Energy Agency, these systems are expected to decrease global CO2 emissions by at least 500 million tons by 2030, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions from all cars in Europe. With over 3 million units sold in Europe in 2023, heat pumps are seen as a highly efficient air conditioning technology for the future.

COPA plans to export the heat pumps it will manufacture following its new investment not only to Turkey but also worldwide, focusing on European countries like the UK, Germany, and Poland. The heat pump production plant set up in Bursa Minareliçavuş OSB will commence operations in August. These COPA heat pumps, designed to be eco-friendly by utilizing environmentally safe gas, feature 7-stage silence technology and remote access.

Oktay Erdinç, the General Manager of COPA Heat Systems, highlighted that current global consumption patterns and demands have outpaced available resources. It is essential to improve energy and resource usage to address the effects of climate change. The global movement for climate action, supported by the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and the European Green Deal, has sparked a worldwide transition. In line with the emission reduction goals of European Union countries, the cooling sector now requires the use of eco-friendly refrigerants, enhanced device efficiency, and high-efficiency products. Specifically in air conditioning, the adoption of technologies such as heat pumps is being promoted. These actions are anticipated to be enforced in our country soon. To actively engage in this shift and enhance Turkey's export potential, we have established a facility for manufacturing heat pumps.

Heat pumps, which can harness heat energy from natural resources like air, water, and soil to heat and cool, offer up to 80% energy savings in homes, buildings, and various applications due to their low energy consumption. Acting as air conditioners in summer and boilers in winter, it is recommended to include heat pumps in building projects..

Founded in 1992, COPA operates in over 40 countries across four continents. The company manufactures heat pumps, combi boilers, air conditioners, water heaters, panel radiators, towel warmers, room thermostats, radiator valves, and installation accessories at its production facilities in Bursa.
