Abdi Ipekci Sports Center Achieved the Right Weather with Daikin
Daikin, the 100-year-old brand of the air conditioning industry, is one of the most preferred brands for the air conditioning solutions of Turkey's prestigious projects. Daikin, which has successfully realized air conditioning solutions for many buildings such as shopping malls, hospitals, factories and universities, has now taken its place in the completely renovated Abdi İpekçi Sports Complex, now known as the Basketball Development Center. Daikin Turkey, the air conditioning solution partner of the Abdi İpekçi Sports Complex, which was demolished and rebuilt about 2 years ago due to aging and earthquake resistance, was preferred for its superior technology, engineering support, extensive service network and solutions suitable for every need. The fact that a total of 927 fan coils and 68 air handling units used in the project were produced in Daikin's factory in Hendek was another source of pride.
Daikin, which raises the bar of the air conditioning sector day by day with its highly efficient, durable and cost-saving products, is proud to take part in a giant project while celebrating its 100th anniversary. Daikin Turkey, which was preferred as the air conditioning solution partner of the Abdi İpekçi Sports Complex, now known as the Basketball Development Center, which was demolished and rebuilt about 2 years ago due to its old and earthquake-resistant building, equips all parts of the complex that need cooling with its technology and quality.
Cooling Systems by Daikin
The Basketball Development Center, created in collaboration with TOKİ and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, covers a total area of 150,000 square meters, including green spaces. The center features a 10,000-seat sports hall, a 1,000-seat training and match hall, and three infrastructure halls where over 8,000 competitions will be held annually. The complex also includes a hotel and camp center tailored to athletes' needs, a basketball museum, a basketball library, a prayer room, shopping areas, concert venues, food and beverage options, and a parking lot. It was inaugurated on Sunday, September 29, with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The cooling systems throughout the building, including the sports complex, hotel, and conference hall, provide savings and comfort through a package solution from the Daikin Central Systems product portfolio.
Daikin Branded Domestic Production Devices
In the project, a 13,300 kW cooling group consisting of 3 Centrifugal Chillers and 2 Screw Chillers with high seasonal efficiency, 68 air handling units and 927 fan coil units were used. In addition to criteria such as efficiency, quality, quiet operation of products in indoor spaces, widespread service network, Daikin's value engineering for the project was a factor in the preference of these devices.
In the Abdi İpekçi Sports Complex project, 326 FWA-A duct type fan coils were used with a package solution from the Daikin Central Systems product portfolio. The FWF-D cassette type fancoil, of which 601 units were used in the project, stands out as a new generation device. While high heat transfer is achieved with a specially developed heat exchanger, the device has less energy consumption with its DC fan motor. This product with BLDC motor, 4-directional blowing and stylish design provides effective results especially in hotels, bank branches, cafes and restaurants, offices. These two devices are produced entirely domestically at Daikin's factory in Hendek. The 68 air handling units used in the project, which are also produced locally in the factory in Hendek in accordance with Ecodesign Lot 6 directives, draw attention as the product with the highest efficiency in the market in its category. One pool dehumidification air handling unit used in the air conditioning of the complex also creates an advantage in keeping indoor pools at the ideal temperature and humidity level.
Celebrating its 100th anniversary in the air conditioning industry, Daikin, the brand of firsts, will continue to take part in projects that create value in Turkey.
