The Siemens AS R&D Center in Gebze, which complies with high environmental standards and is Turkey’s first LEED Gold certified building, will operate in three main sectors; software/hardware development, product design and product development. The R&D center will work in the areas of energy management and distribution systems and industrial automation for the modern world of the future. In addition, it will carry out research and product development for “Smart Networks”.
This will make it one of the world’s few R&D centers to work in this field and it aims to increase the variety of such products in Turkey as well as market them worldwide. The new R&D center initially plans to focus on developing energy and industrial automation products and their applications. Siemens will work cooperatively with its R&D centers in the USA and Brazil and the center will have a team of around 60 experts experienced in the fields of electricity, electronics and software development. The team will increase to 100 over time. The products, applications and solutions expected to be developed by the team will be used by the 190 countries in which Siemens operates.
