Turkish Scientists Produced Millimetric Engine

A new generation engine can be minimized to a millimeter as a result of the collaboration between TUBITAK, BILGEM and Gebze Technical University (GTU). Designed for the first time by TUBITAK, BILGEM and GTU in an attempt to develop high-tech products, ‘the new generation miniature engine’; will meet the needs of space vehicles and satellites, robotic and automation systems, medical applications such as MR devices and endoscopy, the new engine necessities that are small-sized, light, silent and not easily affected by magnetic fields for mass communication devices like new generation smart phones. The new generation ultrasonic engines produced by using computer-assisted finite element analysis methods within the scope of TUBITAK’s 1005 coded ‘National New Ideas and Products Research Support Program’, were designed by a research team of; Prof. Dr. Sedat Alkoy, Prof. Dr. Huseyin Yilmaz, Research Assistant Sinan Dursun from the GTU Materials Science and Engineering Department and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Mensur Alkoy from the Maltepe University.
